This is my life right now.
Doesn’t look like that much, but I’ve just packed three boxes worth and it’s not much smaller. And I have a whole other room that’s half full. It’s just stuff. We’re not even packing furniture…just stuff! Ugh.
So the latest news then. My husband got a new job with a German company (bear with me, this might get confusing). They are an engineering firm. He is contracted through them to Valeo, a French company, who is putting him on a contract with Ford, an American company. It’s like Russian stacking dolls but in contracts. As of now we might move to Detroit so he’s on site with Ford, BUT (and that’s a big but *snicker*) we might also stay in this tiny town in Germany so he can be at the Valeo factory. We don’t know yet. We have to be out of our apartment by Sunday, and we don’t know where we’re going.
For now we are shoving our crap in a friend’s garage and spending a month in an airbnb apartment in the tiny town in the middle of nowhere. From there, who knows. All I know now is that I get to spend the next four days packing, moving, cleaning, and taking things to the donation center. Fun.
I’ll see you on the other side…
What is totally upsetting about this is that you could be selling all your stuff and packing it all away to eventually find out that you’re not going anywhere! I would be flipping out. You are handling it very well. Kudos.
Ha! I packed very badly because I didn’t want to put too much effort in. And most of our stuff was pretty crappy so I’m ok with selling it now while it’s worth something and then replacing it.
What a pain 🙁 I can’t believe you’ve been left waiting so long without knowing which side of the planet you’re going to be on! That’s normally a pretty quick detail for an employer to settle on.
That’s frustrating. I hope you end up where you want to be. Maybe we can meet up again in Germany. I miss it there.
You are becoming an expert at this, that’s the solace. Good luck to you on this, yet another transition.
